With giant areas of Bourne fronting water from the Oceans and Ponds fishing is a huge part of the community. Fish caught in our local waters end up in our local restaurants. Fish caught in our local waters support local industry in terms of charter boat services and the bait shops that support them.
The Cape Cod Canal has been the nexus of all things fishing related for many years. When the herring fishery became a banned/closed market the demand for regular tackle rose. Shops prepared for the changes have done well like Canal Bait and Tackle which is located just over the Sagamore Bridge prior to the approach to the Christmas Trees Shop. The shop has been owned by the Miller family for decades and recently moved to their own building. A full service shop offering baits, rods, reels, repairs and all sorts of tackle along with spicy knowledge Canal Bait and Tackle is a fixture on that side of the bridge. The Miller family is active in the community and were spotted today delivering toys as part of the toy drive downtown. They have also recently gotten into deer checking and other sport weights for the State of Massachusetts.

As a case in point I found out about one of these sites tonight via Yahoo by searching their Marketing and Advertising News section. What we like about these types of resources is that Yahoo goes through and makes sure they are good and relevant and then places them in the right category. Well we came across what is a very well written blog and decided it was worth the shot to read. From there we found the parent site and it too was worthy of a mention.
