Learning More About Bourne Businesses

Bourne has the distinction of being one of only two Towns in Massachusetts that are divided by the Cape Cod Canal.  Most travelers and tourists are unaware that Sandwich has a tiny outpost on the north side of the Canal right along Scusset Beach.  There are no businesses in that stretch and most of the homes are vacation properties and not used for part of the year.  Bourne however is split into two pieces with a large chunk located over the bridges in the Sagamore and Buzzard Bay communities.  Both have vibrant business sections.

Along the highway that advances over the Sagamore Bridge are dozens of businesses ranging from a regional UPS depot to one of the largest boat dealerships in Massachusetts in Eagle Marine.  They have occupied the space along the highway for almost twenty years and are a fixture in the community.  Eagle sells new recreational boats while offering service and storage services.  Across the street PromoManagers has their headquarters in an office building formerly occupied by HP.  PromoManagers sells promotional items to the general public and agencies around the country.  They are very active in the community sponsoring sports teams for children, donating to various charities and also organizing beach cleanup days.  The stretch along Route 3A is a vibrant business community with nearby resources such as UPS and the USPS and quick access to both 495 and Route 3.  The only limiting factor is that there are no close hotels or finer restaurants.

To learn about additional business and advertising companies in Bourne you can utilize old style phone directories or check online for more detailed information.  The Town of Bourne does not maintain a listing of businesses within the community but they do have a full service website.  Bourne was first incorporate in 1884 after breaking away from what was then a much larger Sandwich.  The community has around 20,000 residents with a portion that spend part of the season in warmer climates.  Plagued by traffic issues for years the Sagamore Bridge Flyover project was completed several years ago which dramatically reduced traffic issues and made it much easier for commuters to get on and off the Cape.  It also significantly reduced traffic accidents at the former rotary which averaged three accidents a day.
